Being Generous With End-of-Year Giving
Rod Lanthorne has always been grateful for his blessings. During his decades of service at Kyocera International and as a volunteer, board member and past board chair of the YMCA of San Diego County, Rod has focused his philanthropy on helping those in need enjoy the programs and positive environment that the Y provides.
Recently, Rod began making his donations to the Y with an IRA rollover gift at the end of the year. He explained, “The rollover concept benefits the less fortunate, and I don’t even have to report the income. Also, I don’t rely on the IRA distribution for my day-to-day needs, so it’s a convenient way to make sure the Y receives my gift to serve others.”
Rod added: “I believe the Y is doing God’s work in our community, and I want to be cheerful and generous in giving a portion of God’s blessings back to help those I can.”
Anyone over age 70½ with a qualifying IRA can make a charitable rollover gift to the Y. You'll satisfy your required minimum distribution for the year, receive numerous tax benefits, and most important, make your philanthropic impact at the YMCA to help those who need it the most.
