Longtime YMCA Supporters Make Their Commitment
Carolyn and Ed Parrish had been involved with the YMCA for decades before deciding to include the YMCA in their estate plan. They went to their local YMCA in Tempe, Arizona, when their two children were young to coach soccer and fundraise for the Annual Campaign, and eventually they joined the board there.
When they relocated to San Diego, they knew they were going to stay a part of the YMCA family. "We believe the YMCA of San Diego County embodies the spirit, values and resources that we wholeheartedly support," Carolyn and Ed shared recently. "Our hopes for the future of all children compel us to invest in them and their families, and we are pleased to provide a legacy gift to ensure the YMCA always keeps its doors open to those who need help the most."
Carolyn has served on the board of the Copley-Price Family YMCA for three years, and a presentation at a recent board meeting sparked a reminder to include the YMCA in her and Ed's estate plan. "We had been meaning to update our trust and beneficiaries for a few years now," she says. "We are now leaving our retirement fund to support the YMCA of San Diego County's greatest needs, and we couldn't feel happier about it."
Whether you are a longtime supporter of the YMCA or have never made a single gift, you too can leave a tremendous legacy of impact in San Diego by including the Y in your estate plan.
